Some days this blog is just too easy. A barrage of articles and commentary blast America’s Worst Governor, Jim Gibbons, for living up to his well-earned title. The RJ reports that former Gube Kenny Guinn is a might upset that Gibbons’ is trying to blame him for the Gibster’s incompetence. Gibbons complained in a recent interview that [...] Add this to the spooky stuff surrounding the Gibbons-Trepp earmarking scandal–a cryptic note left on the website War and Peace: I recently learned that Brent "Nine Fingers" Bassett, a former CIA Wondering how Nevada Governor-elect Jim Gibbons is preparing for his Gubeship? Well, he’s off to West Virginia at a retreat for newbie Gubies sponsored by the National Governor’s association and their corporate overlords, among which you’ll find Barrick Gold and Wal-Mart. Some of the newbies were critical of Congress’s failure to deal with the Immigration issue. [...] You’d think with all that talk by the Governor-erect about reining in the trial lawyers would make the outlook bleak for the legal profession. Just ask Warren Trepp, CEO of a Reno tech company: On a lavish, weeklong Caribbean cruise last year, Among Mr. Trepp’s guests on the cruise ship: [...] Abe Lincoln once said, "Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.” Jim Gibbons, in a press conference attempting to make the assault charges against him go away, told us that his reputation is "everything" to him. And that’s the problem: [...] It is always fascinating how stories simply disappear from the public consciousness. So let’s review the details again: Jim Gibbons sent a letter to BLM officials in charge of the "cleanup" of the Anaconda Copper Mine directing them to shift oversight from Carson City to Reno. The Reno office preferred NDEP (Nevada Department for Encouraging Pollution) jurisdiction [...] The LVSun is reporting that former BLM employee Earle Dixon should not have been fired, according to his ex-boss. Dixon was fired over a dispute about how to clean up a dirty mine run by Atlantic Richfield, Co. Bob Abbey, then director of the state office of the BLM, ignored three of Dixon’s supervisors, who thought Dixon’s [...] It’s been a busy day for the Gibbons’ Gube machine. First, as noted in Gleaner and Damon, the Los Angeles Times has linked Abramoff buddy Duane Gibson with the Gibmeister. Boy Scout Gibbons was supposed to be far distant from the Abramoff scandal.
