Like putative Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons’ Homeland Security guru, more State government appointees are falling like dominoes as the Gibbons Gubeship drifts aimlessly into its seventh month.
- David Rosen leaves the State Mental Health Division
- Soderburg passes on PUC.
- A commissioner on the Nevada Commission for the Reconstruction of the V&T Railroad–yes, there is one–was unceremoniously given given the boot after serving for 14 years and being, apparently, the only person to give a damn about the thing. Oh wait, she wasn’t kicked off–she "was not renewed." Thank Gibbons’ taxpayer-funded Head Spinner Brent Boynton for the clarification. So, anybody start the pool on the day Brent is "not renewed"? She was replaced by a real estate developer from the Carson City Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
Gibbons is still pushing his 1/5th failure to secure funding for roads as a success. But when all you have is failure, why I suppose you have to make that your strong point.
Gibbons is also fishing for a sequel of his Twins gig with Awrnold. The Gibster wants to create another commission to study the Tahoe fire, presumably so that he can ignore the inevitable report and appoint another commission in a year, like he did for the roads. all the while doing nothing. Beyond touting this failures as successes, that is.
And looks like Gibbons wants to make sure the Health Care Insurers pony up for his re-election in 2010 like they did in 2006 by putting a little squeeze on ‘em.
And part of the strategy for a successful Republican Caucus in the state seems to entail hiding Gibbons in the basement with the hired help. Turns out, the Gube is a liability:

Rumor has it that the governator and his cronies are thinking about plagiarizing Sam’s brilliant plan to try and protect us from the horrible fires. Some 500 homes have been destroyed as well as 1,000s of lives devastated because the bureaucrats and potentates and media were too jealous and afraid to listen to Sam… again.

Seems like law interpretation is all up to Mark Woods, Division of Parole and Probation, and his officers. See if you can find Mark Woods on the NPP home website. So I’m presuming Woods is another of the alleged sex offender’s new team.
