Nevada Governor Guinn “Scared to Death” of Gibbons Governorship

In an interview with Jon Ralston on "Face to Face, " Nevada Governor Kenny Guinn said he was "scared to death" of the fiscal extremism of hin potential successor, Nevada Congressman Jim Gibbons.

According to an article in the Las Vegas Sun, Quinn said:

"I tell you what, I will be very concerned about
somebody who would get elected and come to this office and say, well,
we don’t need any more money … I would be scared to death of that happening in this state."

Guinn then got all cagey about whether he meant Gibbons specifically, but you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. Gibbons was the father of the supermajority monstrosity that still hamstrings the state. That’s the law that requires a 2/3rd majority in the Nevada Legislature to pass any new taxes.  The law has left Nevada education and state services underfunded for a decade.

It’s no surprise that Guinn is undermining Gibbons’ run for the Governor’s mansion.  Gibbons and Guinn have been at each other’s throats since Gibbons tried to sabotage Guinn’s tax increases in 2003. At one point Guinn spokesperson Greg Bortolin said of Gibbons: "There is clearly a lack of understanding on the budget on the part of the congressman."

Not just the budget, Bortolin.

VOTE GIBBONS OUT! cuz even Kenny Guinn wouldn’t vote for him.

Kenny doesn’t like the Gibster — love it! I knew I liked Guinn. I cannot even imagine Jim Gibbons as governor and I hope imagining is all I have to do.
